Advance multiplications teaches us to look at numbers in a different way. We will rewrite numbers so we can multiply
them easier. I can indicate multiplication by several methods: 48 x 56 = (48)(56) = 48(56) = (48)56 = 48 · 56 Let's us (48)(56) 1. Rewrite 48 and 56 as: (40 + 8)(50 + 6) 2. Use the acronym FOIL. "F" represents first --- the first number in each parenthesis 40 x 50 4 x 5(20), then add two zeros after the right most digit: 2000. 3. "O" represents the left most number in the first parenthesis, and the right most number in the second parenthesis(40 x 6). 4 x 6 (24), then add one zero after the right most digit: 240. 4. "I" represents the right most number in the first parenthesis, the left most number in the second parenthesis (8 x 50) 8 x 5 (40), then add one zero after the right most digit: 400. 5. "L" represents the left most number in each parenthesis (8 x 6) which is 48. 6. Add 2000 + 240 + 400 + 48 = 2688. This should help those who just needed a review or a jump start for the "A" student. If you are like most of us, you will need a more in-depth study and more examples. I have kept the price down so everyone who needs help can afford it.
