WHOLE NUMBERS: We introduce ourselves to the terms: divisor, dividend, quotient, and remainder. For a check: quotient x divisor + any remainder = dividend. If our division problem doesn't come out even, we learn that our quotient may be a mixed number. A mixed number is a whole number followed by a fraction. We obtain the fraction by placing the remainder over the divisor.

DECIMALS: STEP 1: Check the divisor. If the decimal is not on the right end of the divisor, move it there. Remember how many places, we had to move the decimal. STEP 2: If we had to move the decimal in the divisor, we must move it the same number of places in the dividend.

FRACTIONS: We will learn which fraction or whole number is the divisor and which fraction or whole number is the dividend. We will learn how to convert a mixed number to an improper fraction, and we will learn how to convert an improper fraction to a mixed number. We will also learn to convert a whole number to a fraction.
