WHOLE NUMBERS: We start out with single digits multiplication. We advance digits one at a time. We learn
about multiplicands, multipliers, and products. We also learn that multiplicands and multipliers are referred to
as factors.
DECIMALS: We will learn that we ignore the decimal(s) until we are finished multiplying. We learn how to
move the decimal correctly in our product (the answer). Decimals do not have to line up in multiplication problems.
FRACTIONS: Not only do we learn how to multiply fractions and mixed numbers, but we also will learn how
to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions. We also will learn how to convert a whole number into a fraction. |
