We will start our high school math studies by looking at geometry. The word geometry means earth measurement. Earlier
mathematicians were interested in explaining the earth's characteristics. By using proofs, they tried to explain
the earth's movement, the earth's shape, and its measurements. Intro Geometry: In the introduction of geometry, we try to help students get a feeling for a point. From the point we build a line. We use lines to form and show planes. Angles: We learn how to form angles from lines and planes. We will learn that angles form different shapes. Shapes: With curved lines, broken lines, closed figures, and planes, we can create infinite number of shapes. Area: We will learn to fine the surface areas of many different shapes. We will learn to break down a complicated shape into shapes we recognize. Volume: We will learn to find how much vessels of differeent shapes will hold --- its capacity. Proofs: We will learn how to established some postulates and Theorems. We will probably show these as we need them. |
